Mississippi Thunder Speedway

FOUNTAIN CITY (February 28) – Several people gathered at the Hilltop Bar and Ballroom high atop the bluffs of Fountain City, Wisconsin to honor the final track champions and drivers of the historic three-cornered track. Now but a memory, Tri-Oval Speedway honored first-time champions in all but one of its classes. When the track opens back up in the Spring, it will be a 3/8 mile oval tearing out of the gates at Mississippi Thunder Speedway with new management.

Trophies were awarded to the top ten in the WISSOTA Street Stocks, WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, WISSOTA Super Stocks, and USRA Modifieds. Top five trophies were presented in the Hornets, Outlaw Mini Peewees, Outlaw Mini Juniors, and Outlaw Mini Seniors.

In the WISSOTA Street Stocks, Danny Hanson clinched his first Tri-Oval Speedway track championship. Three-time track champion Kevin Hager finished second followed by the 2007 Track Champion Brad Dennis. Tom Hund sealed fourth place followed by Dan Bork in fifth place.


Mississippi Thunder Speedway is excited to announce we will be hosting the 2008 final season awards banquet for Tri-Oval Speedway. The event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28th at the Hilltop Bar & Ballroom in Fountain City, Wisconsin. Huge trophies will be awarded for the top ten in points in Mods, Supers, B-Mods, Street Stocks, and top five for Hornets, Sr. Mini Mods, Jr. Mini Mods, and Pee Wee’s. We will also be giving out (6) Specialty awards for Fan Favorite, Rookie of the Year, Most Improved, Sportsmanship, Best Appearing Car, and Best Appearing Mini Mod. Specialty awards will be awarded according to results of a on-line poll that will be set up on www.mississippithunder.com within the week, so be sure to check back and cast your vote. Door prizes will be given out through out the night. Meal will be all you can eat Fish & Tips with baked potato, corn, coleslaw, and a roll. Meal ticket will also include free pop all night and two half barrels starting at 7:30pm until they are gone. Entertainment will be provided by Rip Roaring Entertainment following awards ceremony. Event will be open to the public but will be limited to the first 400 tickets sold. Kids are welcome!

Formerly Tri-Oval Speedway of Fountin City, WI. the new Mississppi Thunder Speedway is a landmark 3/8 mile now four corner dirt racing track founded in 1968. Mississippi Thunder Speedway re-opened in 2006 under new ownership and management. The speedway today is a completely remodeled, state-of-the-art racing facility.

In the fall of 2008 Tri-Oval Owner Jeff Duelmann made the decision to sell the track to Bob Timm who has turned many laps around the track as a driver over the years. Bob's accomplishments as a driver provide the knowledge to bring the track to the next level in Wissota Country
